Next thing, u have to look at the question not from a freelance perspective but from a full time job. However, most of you make clear sense when you said that it depends on what was agreed upon when you take the job.

Bottomline: are there design jobs that "requires" you to have extensive knowledge of MS word?

Note: Extensive knowledge basically means knowing more than formatting a 2 page document.
