I am currently searching for a new computer to purchase and have been looking at a customized Dell XPS system. However, I am confused about which processors will be able to run 64 bit apps and Windows Vista 64 bit.

Intel states that the 9 series has EM64T Technology, described here:

However, when I did a live chat with Dell support (twice) they stated that the 9 series chip IS NOT 64 bit; they said that only the extreme edition is 64 bit chip. However, Intel explains that Intel chips with EM64T technology can run 64 bit application and Operating Systems.
Can anyone explain this?
