It's not apples to orange. It's fruits and vegetables.
Python and C have different intents and purposes. I wish that people didn't make rash statements like the one above without having a lot of high level experience using a language.
It depends on what you want to do. If you want more of lower level programming, such OS's, compilers and whatnot, C is definitely better. However, if you have to do more abstract and higher level programming, than Python is your friend.
