I completely agree, your work ethic is a very important aspect of hiring anyone for a job. Displaying yourself as lazy would definitely put people off.

I CMS is hardly needed in a small portfolio website. I don't feel that a CMS is ever needed at all. A database driven website is a good thing, but I prefer to code it myself.
