I'm not entirely sure how someone can determine action enough to warrant punishment, from two words, but that's the choice of the staff and it's done.
It would probably be better to complain (read: make heard your own views on the 'mis-punishment') directly to the person who punished you, or if you don't want to deal with them directly then some 'senior' member of staff (it's their role to manage the others, right?).
Is the punishment deserved? My own opinion would be no, but hey what does that count for?! The message posted to you by Jamie also seems a little odd given the circumstances. It clearly implies that one should post only if something interesting is being said. Arguably this very post isn't particularly interesting so maybe I shouldn't have posted it.
To address Indy's request, the message fairly clear. He didn't like the "attitude" in your post (leaving aside the vagarities of interpreting two-word posts).
