The difference you're seeing is probably the angle he is shooting from. Most are shot from the level of the car, not standing up and shooting down on the vehicle. It makes a huge difference.

Also remember that using a tripod can
extremely help a picture's quality. Then I'm sure he used a good self-set ISO setting and exposure time and all of that.
