Microsoft generally works on an every-other basis. The operating systems in between the stable ones are practice runs. Look at the trend of PC systems: 3.1, 95, 98, 2000/ME, XP, Vista and 7, they all follow this pattern. Whatever they do here is a test run for the one after windows 8, which will be stable and worthwhile. I'm sticking with 7, for a while.
