I have been using flash since version 3... around 1998. It took me a whole of time and effort to learn as I really wanted to learn everything. Everything I know is self taught with plenty of trial and error. Whether it is worth it or not depends on whether you really want to do it and if you enjoy using Flash a whole lot. If you don't have the heart for it, don't waste your time. A new version of Flash appears about every 18 months so there will be loads more to learn. Of course, I'm assuming you mean if it will eventually pay off financially. In my case, it most certainly does.
