I can't see why people try to push validation onto others. Take a look at Google's page. Looks great in most browsers, yet it's nowhere near valid. I'd say it's far more important to code to your own validation rules than to copy anothers. The W3C is intended as a guideline. When I create pages, I always follow the client through page validation.
