I've used it, and couldn't get used to the layout either. It's simple and light, great if you need a quick easy to use board, but the layout drives me crazy.
I've been using Fluxbb for a while now, it seems ok, but limited in features and mods as well, and they seem reluctant to add anything new to the core.
