I need some professinal photgraphers opinions here.
I want to a buy a DSLR camera and am looking over a couple: My current selections in my price range: Olympus E-500, Nikon D-50, Canon Digital Rebel XT
I have looked at reviews and features and teh E-500 seems to be the best. The one thing holding me back is why is this camera cheaper than the others when it has more features and a bigger lcd plus it came ou this year?
Another question: The E-500 also has a aspect ratio of 4:3. Is this a bad thing does it make it harde for me to get a lense when the other ratio is 3:2?
Please vote which camera you would get.
Thanks

I'd go for the Drebel XT (but I'm biast towards that, since it's what I've got) or the Nikon D50, personally. That's mainly because I'm fairly sure there's a larger choice of better quality lenses available for the two, because after you get a dSLR that's where all your money goes. Currently thinking about buying a lens that costs more than my 350d (DRebel XT) did when I bought it early last year.
Make sure you REALLY want to get into Photography before you buy your camera.
I bought a $300 camera for a class, and I absolutely hated it! (Photography, not the camera)
Nikon is by far the higher quality. The Canon's in that price range feel soooo cheap and plastic llike. The nikon has a little bit of a "heavier" feel.
The reviews for the D50 are amazing. I never see any dissapointments in the d50. The E-500 turns out to be a crap camera. I am into photography as I am in the class and currently have a SLR. I think I will buy a refurbished one as I am on a budget and lenses are expensive. If anyone knows were I can get a refurbished one please give me a heads up.
I know quite a few people with Canon cameras, and three of them have a Rebel one. They all say it's the best buy they ever did, so i guess i would go for that one
