Everybody is entitled to their opinion, let's keep it that way.

There is a difference though between having an opinion and going all out to deliberately cause an argument.

We have an infraction system in place that leads to temp bans for things such as insulting other members etc and if even after the temp bans you continue to constantly break the rules the points will add up and eventually result in a perm ban.

I think we can all agree this is a fair system we have in place, follow the rules and you'll be fine

It can be hard to assess who starts an arguement, as they may say a perfectly harmless comment, and someone reacts badly or see's it another way.

If people werent allowed to have their own opinion and freedom of speech then this place would suck.

Overall TFL has turned into a huge marketplace and general discussion forum and not the freelance forum it used to be, we need more good articles and posts about freelancing and development to get it going again and less general discussion which causes all arguments and leads members to getting heated. If we just focus on what the subject is 'freelance' there will be less arguments.

I also vote the general discussion to be deleted (It'll give users something else to talk about, oh dont forget the suggestions area to be deleted too - arguments rise mostly in there too)

Just my opinion, don't ban will ya?

Personally I feel the general discussion is a great forum, albeit there are some childish posts get posted there, but typically it's what makes TalkFreelance feel that little more like an amicable community.

I've had several, sometimes slightly heated, political debates, but there's never been any malice in what people say to one another. It's just every single individual believes they are correct and will fight to the bitter end to defend their beliefs.

I find though on TalkFreelance individuals don't merely blindly defend their beliefs, but rather eople who engage in these debates often take what other people have said into consideartion.

...And when it's all said and done, we're all friends! Society would be one stale place if everyone thought alike.

In addendum, nevertheless, I do agree with BlueRiver in that TalkFreelance could do with some exemplary articles. I have to visit DigitalPoint to get my SEO and marketing fix.
