Advertising via PM
Hello Members
I would just like to make a point that advertising your website or service via private message is NOT allowed. We have a marketplace for this service.
We have had several incidents where members have been BANNED for doing this and anyone caught will suffer the same consequences. If you can't play by the rules, then don't play at all.
I would like to ask any member who has been on the recieving end of this to contact me and we can soon sort this growing problem out. There may even be something in it for you
Regards.

Wow, I sent two PM's recommending my services to people that I thought needed them, I guess thats a violation of the private messaging system

The reason for this post wasn't aimed at anyone specifically, we have had a few users who have spammed people with advertisements, one was banned for sending over 20 PM's plugging their forum. Your name was brought to my attention for doing the same thing, therefore you were warned. It's time to clamp down on people abusing the system, we have a marketplace for advertising.

I'm glad you've posted about this Rob but I feel abliged to stick up for YC.
He PM'd me telling me about his forum because I posted here asking for help about programming, and his site is perfect for helping me.

Why must you 'stick up' for somebody, when nobody was targeted specifically for what has happened?

I don't want to become a part of an argument
Robson has made an excellent move, I agree with the decisions he has made and the steps he shall take to prevent spam

If that's the case then he wouldn't have sent the same message to other individuals.....regardless it's not allowed.

If someone hadn't complained then it wouldn't have come to the admins attention so obviously it's a problem for someone, not an issue for debate.
