Old  Same keywords as your competitiors?

Just wondering, if I used the same keyword, meta tags and the like for my own site (say I used the same keywords as the site in the number 1 position on Google) would there be any consequences to this? Negative/positive?

Not really for keywords, alltough is best to find out some of the keywords that they maybe left out. About the meta description it's better to have an original description, google likes original content in every way so it's better this way because they might penalize you.
Regards

No, there won't be any negative consequences, however; there could be some great positive consequences - such as, better rankings, maybe.

No, there wouldn't be any consequences but there would hardly/if any be any changes. Meta tags aren't part of Google's algorithms.
