  Old  Contest Payment

I think when someone starts a contest they should send the money to a TalkFreelance admin via paypal for them too hold. They also must pick a winner for the contest or the contestants should leave negative feedback. Also if no winner is picked the payment should be sent to each entry evenly to each contestant or admin & members vote whos logo is the best and he/she gets the full payment.

Alot of the prize money would be used up in Paypal fees, assuming that would be the most popular transaction choice here.

True but I could see it working at any rate.

It worked at Clan Templates, but I don't think it will work here.

I would have to agree with you xuxa, i dont enter the contest but it seems like a good ideal, and i have a better ideal for the money seeing as how TFL doesnt make much money, why not if no winner is picked the money is placed into a fun for TFL to help keep it up and running, with latest vb, new themes (perhaps). just my opinion. seems like something good to do since TFL does so much for all of us members and most of us take it for grant, they deserve something in return.

It's a touchy subject when having a middle man, should anything go wrong it would be us liable for the money that was paid down.
I'm not sure of any legal issues but I'm sure there's some out there when it comes to this.
And yes, a main problem with us holding the money is that not everyone can accept pay pal (although it is the most popular method for transactions here).
As well with PayPal comes service fees depending on type of account and amount sent, so that would be something that would need to be added to prize money in order to work out well. (TF would also need to take a handling fee for such a service, it wouldn't be worth the risk if we didn't).

A lot to think about, hard to implement. I can't see it happening any time soon if not at all due to all the issues and concerns regarding this.

Thanks for the suggestions,
Jeff

Just implement an escrow service.

*snap of fingers*

Done adiboy.

If anything it would take quite a long time for us to investigate the legalities and stipulations when it comes to such a commitment/system.

It sounds like a nice idea, but hard to pull off.

We've talked about it before as well as an escrow service and neither methods are practical unfortunately.
