McAurie
I've been working on McAurie for awhile and I am just not sure. I love the design but I am not sure if it is perfect for a professional development website & network. So what do you think? (Remember the McAurie site isn't done, and a few pages still have filler content from the designer.)

Or, I could use this design after some changes have been made.

Thoughts?

Thanks, are there any elements you'd like to see changed?

I like the elements and how their styled, but the dark background without a well-contrasting color (white, yellow, something along those lines) isn't something I find too attractive. And mooxie is much nicer in my opinion

To be honest, black/dark websites are a thing of the past. People want cleaner, more simple sites. I like the site, but it doesn't feel modern. It feels old.
However, if picking between that and the other layout, I'd definitely go with your current one.

What are your thoughts on a color change to light grey (for the BG) and red?

not a big fan of the hover, it kind of hurts my eyes. Also for some reason the latest project box doesn't appeal to me. Everything else looks good though.

The only thing I really like is the logo and that's been made to look worse with the effect and typography it uses.
Not sure what to pin point on the layout as to why I dislike it but i'd probably do the following;
- Keep the navigation in one place, seems a bit random to have 2 seperate ones.
- Colour scheme, I don't have a problem with darker layouts but it's just too dark, i'd introduce more blue to the layout or in general make it lighter.
- Featured project section seems a bit pointless like it currently is, i think they're a good idea but for it to be effective i'd make the screenshot bigger.
- Maybe add some icons, a bit cliche nowadays but they can't still make the template look a whole lot better if used correctly.
