Old  Many "blog sites" have high rankings & just redirect traffic to affiliate campaigns!!

I noticed that many "blog sites" (= sub-domain of a blog, like yourname.blogspot.com) have high rankings within search engines, for example - MSN Search & just redirect traffic to affiliate campaigns!!

How is it possible that such sites get a top-5 ranking within search engines (i.e. MSN Search) & the only thing what those personal blog urls do is "re-directing" you to affiliate offers whereby you will NOT see the original blog itself at all?

What is the 'trick' here to get such a high position?

Thanks!

Their blog site probably used to be up, and they decided to redirect all incoming traffic, at least that's my theory.

What kind of keywords are they ranking for? I doubt its something popular, even if they are, getting rankings on MSN isnt that hard, I can rank a website their for a very popular keyword in a month.
Its probably as cpvr said, they started getting traffic so they redirected their traffic into an affiliate link.

Keyword: ringtones
This is a "highly competitive" search term, even though it's ranked so well (nr. 2) in MSN Search & not Yahoo or Google!
