Portfolio Design

Hello Everyone,
I've been fiddling around with a design for my portfolio site, and was curious what others thought of it. Nothing is functional yet, and there will be navigation on the right side. I just haven't gotten it where I want it yet, design wise.

So, if you could let me know what you think of the layout as it is, I'd appreciate it very much.

I don't really like the colours but some people might and I think the header is to narrow sort of cramped.
I overall like the stucture though.
