Depends on your need. I have carried both a Palm and a Blackberry at one time or another. At this time I am PDA less and my cell phone suits all of my needs. Though I have been looking for a pocket PC to have for giggles.

I wouldn't bother if I were you. I purchased one myself and it was great for about 2 days but then i'm back to my computer.
However if you have a hectic lifestyle where you are on the move, and need to take many notes and things it might be worth it but to be honest you're better off with a laptop or one of those new laptops that the screen can turn 360 degrees and it has a touch screen!

No, typically if someone refers to a pocket PC they have a device that is running WindowsCE such as an Axim or iPaq. However Pocket PC's are also lumped into the PDA category along with Palm's and Blackberry's.

I think they are great for school, writing down assignments, taking small notes. Or, just do what I do, bring your laptop to school :P

Ouch.. Then, I suppose a PDA would be useful. I used to use mine a lot, before my laptop

I got a Palm Tungsten E. It's really nice when I'm working or studying, but otherwise completely useless. For example, I've been on a holiday for 2 months, and I haven't even recharged the battery in 2 months. So be sure that you actually have use for one, and if you get one, buy a cheap model.
