First time I've used one was in intro week at uni last year, haha fun times. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSgnz_kiLAU
Then another project last year, to get the NXT robots to draw shapes on a board.
(We do work as well, honest!)

Not bad at all (to both of you). I'm still a beginner at EE so this stuff all a bit over my head from a technical standpoint.

I just spent a module at uni playing, i mean working, with NXT's. We did ours using NXJ though (the java platform). Can't say we had much success but managed to bluff most of the marks.

Can't say i know what the standard NXT language is, but i guess NXJ probably has some nice features, well for a start it contains a large portion of the java virtual machine. We had to do work using artificial intelligence, such as planning routes on maps using search algorithms. NXJ has some nice multi threading support as well which is crucial for a robot. Such as the arbitrator and behaviors. May be worth a look, i have no comparison from the normal NXT default really though.
