  Old  FTP backup script

Hi All,

I am looking to create / find / have some make a backup script either in vb or a bat file to upload a whole directory (from local pc) to an ftp.

requirements

It must be able to include all sub folders and many different files types. (at least .doc, .txt, .pdf, .xls, .pst)

Any ideas or could someone make one? All the ones i seem to find cannot do subfolders.

I do not want to puchase any software licenses in order to achieve this. Any thoughts?

With WS_Ftp Pro 2006, (which you'd have to buy a copy of), you can create a 'hot drop' folder - basically a shortcut to a directory on your server.

You can then add a shortcut to the hot drop folder to your 'send to' directory.

Having done all of that you are all setup to be able to right-click any file or folder on your local machine and send it straight to your server without the need to log in, open your ftp client or anything else.

Is that anything close to what you want to do?

If it's for 3 users, buy 3 copies... if they are all to be used by you I believe Ipswitch, (maker of WS_Ftp), allows you install on multiple machines if they are only to be used one at a time - you'd have to check this though.

it is for 3 to start with but will be for more and i wont be able to monitor the use easily so for me it will be cheaper in the long run to develop an application.
