Does adding your website to web directorys actually increase traffic or help SEO in any way at all?

It really depends what directories you're submitting to. It definitly increases PR, dmoz is pr9 and is the best directory to be listed in, alot of search engines (yahoo) use their data to base their searches on. I wouldn't imagine it increases your traffic alot, but it does help to increase your backlinks and this in turn boosts your pr and search engine placement

If you're stuck on a certain PR, being in DMOZ will usually push you up ahead on Google.
