  Old  [Review] jinxed.org

Hi,

Thanks a lot for your time reviewing my site. It took quite some work to do it and I want it to be as cool as possible so please be brutally honest!

Can you please:

Try and imagine it doesn't say "today" at the biginning of every phrase. Do you like it better?

What do you see on the banner, without paying a lot of attention?

Do quickly understand the point of the site?

Any other advice?

Thanks a lot.

www.jinxed.org

PS: I know my website doesn't validate and I don't mind. I didn't try to make a coding masterpiece, just want it to work on FF and IE7 and IE6 (with lower quality expectations). Dealing with the displaying problems by understanding what was going on takes a lot less time than respecting norms I don't really care about.

Unless you have coding solutions for a dynamic width without using images that would work on all browser and keep the round-borders, don't bother giving me coding tips. Unless it is security tips since I really suck at this.

Once again, thanks for you help!!!

The concept of the site ok, but with more planning it could have some potential. On that note, it took me a good 2-3 minutes to figure out what the whole thing was about.

And then from that point on, i found it boring and pretty pointless.

Design wise, it's very simple, and i hate simple sites like that. It doesn't give off a good feeling to this new environment i'm visiting.

And in which case, if i wasnt reviewing the site and I just 'found' it, i would have immediately turned away.

You also mention "i don't really care about" in your post, first of all, if your going to create something, then care for it, otherwise there is no point in doing it.

The html is valid, though you have 30 warnings which could easily be fixed.

Thank you a lot for your feedback.

I'm sorry if you understood that I didn't car about this website, since is really not what I meant. I really worked hard for many many hours to get to that and it really matters to me.

What I meant was that what I cared about was what users will see with their eyes, and that I didn't care about norms at this point of the development. It might change but right now I have lots of other priorities for the site.

If you have a second to go on the website again and hit the "send to a friend" button, can you tell me me if this is the kinda thing that make the site look better?

Because what I lack the most in making a beautiful site is just to know what people like. For example, would like the design better some stains everywhere?

Or do you have any other ideas?

Thanks again

Are you going to add a captcha for unregistered users? (I didn't actually submit a Jinxed tale so forgive me if there is one on the next step)

If it gets out of control, I'll have to but I hope it won't be needed.

I like the concept behind it; but it definately needs work. I would recommend you start on concentrating on improving one part of the design only, so for example, the navigation. Then, once you're happy with it, you can build the rest of the site's color scheme/layout in the style of that navigation you just made.

Keep at it.

Hi, I changed the design: new background changed the brown to orange and added a link to comics of the short stories on my site on both sides.

Do you think it looks better now?

Do you like the overall concept?

Thanks for your comments!
