Old  Opera 8.5 browser now completely free!

Opera did what most would call a surprise move and set their latest version of Opera to be completely free! No more ad-banners or text-ads, everyone can enjoy the web with the best browser ever.

Nice move - now we'll see how will the browser "market" look with all the major players being free.
Thanks for the info

Yea, it sure did. But more people became aware of Opera I think. And publicity is (almost) never bad

Marketing + PR
The more "they" (we - potential users) talk about "us" (Opera) the better

Both are great. With the Opera being free now I've downloaded and installed it.
Now it's time to dive deeper into the features, but the first step has been made.
Looks very promising though.
There are lots of people considering Opera being better than Firefox - more advanced, "polished".

Anyway - no matter if it is Opera or Firefox - the number of IE users swithing to these two is going to raise, which is good
