You can kind of do better:

Gateway NV7901u NoteBook Intel Core i5 $899 - $899

- Color NightSky Black
- Operating System Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
- CPU Type Intel Core i5 430M(2.26GHz)
- Screen 17.3"
- Memory Size 4GB DDR3
- Hard Disk 500GB
- Optical Drive DVD Super Multi
- Graphics Card ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650
- Video Memory 1GB DDR3 VRAM

Although the service plans do drastically change the pricing which would come out to around the same price (or a little more.) But just figured to give other options too.

If you're going with 17", at least get a Full HD screen

i would go with the dell over gateway simply because of the finish. i find the finish on gateways "cheaper".

that sounds like a good deal to me but whatever you do, i recommend the 2-3 year warranty bonus since it's pretty much the cost of replacing anything on it should anything go wrong (and believe me, things will go wrong)

Full HD is 1920x1080 is Full HD... or it should be, most companies simply use 720p as a 'Full HD' standard. Anyways, 17" is, imo, ideal for 1920x1080... Of course, if you're having eye problems or need reading glasses, a bit lower might be better...
