  Old  Don't get it...

I created an account, activated it, went to post an offer for a small job and I get an error that I don't have enough authority or something. I don't get it.

  Old  Help!

What do I need to do in order to post an offer for a project? I go to post the description and I get an error. This is ridiculous.

Here is the error:

I believe you need to be a member for 4 days. There could be other requirements as well, I'd look through the announcements.

I believe there are forum restrictions preventing people from doing that.

This way people can't just sign up and then post a link advertising their services on another website.

Also, please don't post two threads in two different forums asking the same thing.

When registering, you ticked a checkbox stating "I have read, and agree to abide by the Webmaster Forum - Web Design, Programming and SEO forums rules.". Very near the top of those rules, in bold text, the following is clearly stated:

Important Notes
  • In an effort to reduce problems with new accounts and advertising, new accounts have restricted privileges. They cannot use the Private Message system or create new threads in the Marketplace or certain other forums. After being registered for four days (regardless of post count), these privileges will be raised to that of normal members (being able to send/receive PMs, etc.).

On the off-chance that you skipped over reading the rules that you agreed to abide by, please refresh yourself by visiting http://www.talkfreelance.com/rules.php

With all that said, it would be nice if the "you do not have permission to access this page" message made reference to the restrictions placed on new users, if they try to PM or create threads in the Marketplace.

I also vote for adding a new clause into those rules, signing new users' souls over to TalkFreelance.

I'd strongly suggest a read though the rules that you agreed to when joining:

Got it. I am a business man myself and I do have lots of rules too. But here is the big question: do they really expect me to initiate several posts before posting a job offer? What are they crazy? I need help now and you know... they just lost me as their customer.

Thank-you and good bye.

Sincerely,

Evan

No, you are expected to wait four days and hopefully partake in the community. Perhaps if you try to make the best of it you will find that we have a lot to offer.

Whats with the attitude? Talkfreelance does not owe you anything. You did not pay to register here and the rules were very clear when you registered. You clearly did not read them before or after registering and that is your fault. I'm sorry if you don't like the rules but that's what they are.

Having seen that done before on another website, the number of those willing to give up their soul is at a staggering high! We should definitely take advantage.

Threads merged. Evan, there was no reason starting multiple threads asking the same question. If anything, this would usually earn you an infraction since cross posting is not allowed. But then you wouldn't know that as well.

Thread is closed since the answer was provided.

PS: You do not have to make any posts in order to use the marketplace.
