TalkFreelance Blog?
I was reading a post that I read here about blogs whilst surfing SitePoint.com. After a few minutes of simultaneously surfing TF and their Blog's, I had a pretty good idea. Wouldn't it be cool if some kind of blog/journal hack could be added onto these forums to allow people to add small articles on Freelancing, Coding, etc? Something like that would be a very original feature to vBulletin's, and I'm sure it wouldn't take that long for someone with a fairly good knowledge of phpBB to install onto these forums.

Interesting, however isn't that the purpose of the forum? To post about freelancing, programming & design. I can only see this modification either not being used or detracting from the forum.

I have one added to my forum, and there's one added to Gamers Euphoria. It's happening quite a lot nowadays.

What exactly are we talking about here?
In the next month or so we are implementing a few changes on talkfreelance, those being the tutorials database (this week), a gallery script, a free directory of freelance resources and an articles page (aka sitepoint style).
All of the additional pages will be found under the dropdown menu that currently says "quotation", this will be changed soon to "Links" or "Resources" or something....
I'm all for innovation but i'm a little unsure of this exact feature, from what i can gather it only takes away from the forum and doesn't add to it.

It's just a place to discuss problems or let off some steam.
I wouldn't use it, I don't have any intrest in blogs/etc.

Yeh, i understand what blogging is....i just don't understand how it can add to the community, if you're with me? Why not just post in the forums with your articles, rants, questions etc.

Well, in a lot of places, they have a 'life' forum, where they can talk and discuss their more personal problems there.
But with a blog script, you can actually use it as a journal. Like, if there's something you want to write down, but don't want anyone to see, you set it to private.
Kinda like LiveJournal, but added on to the forums.
