Old  xHTML & CSS for a n00b lol

I'm fed up of paying people to code for me, and would rather learn the whole process myself so I'm going to get my head stuck into it. I've done a bit of coding over time but hardly anything at allin the last year or so.

I want to learn due to the fact that my designs are some what 2D and flat in theory. I obviously try to acomidate for coding proceedors but obviously I'm limited to my lack of knowledge and understanding. I understand now that it must annoy people that I am asking to code as they can only do what is possible.

So what I'm getting at is, I'm going to finish of my current client work, and then I'm going to be in this section for quite some time. I need to get my own site designed and coded so I guess that will be a good start.

Any hints, guides and obviously help and advise would be great. I ideally want to start off with xHTML and CSS and then after that once I have a good understanding I will venture into wordpress themes. Am I right in guessing that a basic knowledge of php is required for this? As I will mainly be skinning, not writing new code or anything.

Anyway, thats my great sob story lol I hope to make new friends in this area.

Adios.

I have had a look around www.pixel2life.com in the css tutorial part of the site. Looked like some interesting tutorials, i haven't had time to look yet though.

Like resolva said, htmldog.com is a good place to start.

Hey Sulcalibur, I'm in the same boat as you. I really want to learn because I want to learn almost all coding languages. Maybe we could help each other out.
