Change to signature rules
In order to accommodate more members we are changing the signature rules slightly. We will be removing the ability to display images in signatures. Removing images will result in faster page loads for members. Signatures have generally been used to display graphical advertising banners in this forum, this will now cease and put the focus back on good content, which is what this forum is all about. It will also stop the large number of signature abusers here, this amounts to a large proportion of reported members.
We will be allowing a number of concessions in other areas. Here are the new guidelines: - Maximum 5 lines of text. (we currently have 4 lines)
- Maximum size "3" for font.
- Max of 3 colors may be used. (currently 2)
- May not attack, abuse, or offend any other member, staff member, or party.
- May not be used to link to or advertise websites found in direct competition or in the same category as talkfreelance. (Such as freelancing forums, webmaster forums, etc)
- Fraudulent statements and blatant advertisements will not be tolerated.
- We reserve the right to change or remove your signature at any time, for any reason, or ask you to do so. So please don't go silly with your signature, keep it sensible or it may be removed. Signatures that look like a dogs breakfast are not what we all want to see here.
- Please note that once you have met the 5 post requirement there will be a short delay before your account is updated and you are able to use your signature.
I am running a poll to see your thoughts before we action this, this vote has to be an overwhelming majority to get this changed.
Post about this here, noting that this will not be changed unless there is a huge overwhelming majority against this. Arguing will not be tolerated in this thread, we need constructive comment.

They certainly do, that's the idea. We want to get rid of images, but allow greater freedom in other areas.

A point of inquiry lies in the colour limit, mainly why do we do it? I can see the idea behind all the other rules, but it always seemed that the colour of the text mattered very little (at least to me.)

Very good comment Northpark, this was to restrict members from displaying signatures like this.
But I suppose the rule that states:
"So please don't go silly with your signature, keep it sensible or it may be removed. Signatures that look like a dogs breakfast are not what we all want to see here."
...covers that eventuality.

i like signature images but i dont mind seeing it go, but i think instead of a max of 2 links it should be 3 links now with the removal of images.
