IRC Or Shoutbox?
I think itd be neat to have a chat thing, so we dont need to spam so much to talk, like a shoutbox at the bottom, so members on can chat with eachother..
I onno, maybe its been suggested.. didnt bother to search.. =D

Hmm Interesting idea, but wouldn't that take away from the forum's professionalism or post count?
I'm not sure how people would react... Coming to TFL for the first time seeing on the main page, "ShoutBox," filled with "WAZZZZZUP!!"

Well, I dont think its so much being spam in the shoutbox, or taking away the forum posts, but cutting back on some spam? Maybe new members could ask easy small questions there, other than wasting a post, and that way they could also find a faster answer, plus its more fun for the members, having someone to talk to, and actualy interact with, other than posting..

I believe having the user post the thread to ask the question, receive multiple answers, and then having that thread sit there for any one in the future that wishes to learn is much better than a refreshing chat.
Isn't that the entire idea behind a forum?

I guess so, I just figured so many 'Why cant i get in the offers' when they have 2 posts, would get a bit overload, and people would start to get aggravited to answer it, because, some people do read the rules, but some people dont either.. And maybe not even to asnwer quesitons, but maybe an IRC Channel with idlers, and what not, so that way only members who want to, can go in there, that way new members dont have to join and randomly see us weird TFL'ers talking in a shoutbox.

It may cut down on the general repeating questions, but we would lost quite a bit of forum content with users just quickly asking in the shoutbox to jumping on IRC and, as bennett indicated. the "hard copy" on the forums wouldn't be there for future reference.

it looks very unprofessional to be quite honest, a shoutbox is usually filled with immature content and posts from people being stupid.

I'd like to see an IRC channel set up for us. It would give us all a place to chat which is lacking at the moment - who knows, it might even help to bind us members together a little more instead of simply being business aquaintances.
Shoutbox, no. Just plain no.
