  Old  XHTML vs HTML?

XHTML vs HTML? Which to use and why?

XHTML is suppose to be "future proof" and is more strict, therefore, yielding better code.

Is there any use useing HTML anymore?

(I know XHTML is "essentially" HTML...so don't get smart.)
