for techo i found it fairly easy to learn as youngcoder said api's are quite difficult but you won't learn them first a great compiler is <a href="www.bloodshed.net"> www.bloodshed.net</a> it has a integated development enviroment i other word it has debugger compiller and editor all in one. A great book to start with is c++ in 10 minutes
