PayPal
I'm about to sell our current Speedy5 design. Since PayPal doesn't provide protection unless it's through eBay or so, I requested the payment instead of having him send it to me with his AIM in the payment comment.
He sent an eCheck with shipping address so... I'm worried he could say I didn't give him the design or to submit someone had control over his account. I know if you can't provide details PayPal will give him the money back. What can I do to protect me against this? Apart from sending him a Contract of sell thorugh FAX and have it signed.

I am also trying to work out a way around this. Let me know if you find one. However, if he does try something, just post the template for free allover the internet

thats ok when its a $10 design, but if you just sold it for over $200 you don't really want to give it away for free

escrow provides buyer protection, but I believe there is a ton of other legal stuff to do with them.

Send a CD with the design files to the buyer with tracking and have him sign it. That should protect you from disputes since it follows Paypal's policy.

Yeah but if there is NO WAY of getting back your money, I can't see anything better to do than get back at him.

Otherwise known as 'return receipt requested' (USPS), or basic with FedEx and UPS.

Yea, you can send a CD to them and request the signature when it gets there. Also, it's in the buyer protection policy that intangible goods are not covered, so just respond within the 10 days after they file a claim, and explain everything, and you should be ok. I am in the process as well of doing this. Paypal, in my opinion, if they do not protect against intangible items like that, they should just NOT allow claims to be filed against them at all. just my two pennies
