Jealousy? Hardly--shall I start making "what's your bank balance" and "what's your social security number?" threads? Honestly, it's not motivation, it's just personal information. I don't know about you, but I don't come to a freelance forum looking for how much some random guy somewhere made off ads.
If you'd like to argue that it's useful, how so? No information about how such numbers are being generated, or if any new tactics or business methods are being used. It's just general chat, not really great for where it's being placed over and over.
