1983 - ZX Spectrum with 16MB memory - no HDD - had to load everything from an audio tape ( also the way you saved your programs ). Programing language: BASIC. ( very basic ... LOL ).

My first computer was very bad, I wasn't into taking them apart and stuff at the time so all I know about it is: 20gb hard drive, 64mb of memory.. Then I bought a laptop for the family which cost £1300 specs: 40GB hard drive, 256mb ram, 1.7ghz, Made by VAIO and it has lasted over 1 1/2 years been on for atleast 6 hours per day and I bought a new one the other week: 2.8Ghz Intel Celeron, 533mhz front side bus, 80gb hard drive, 512mb ram and I plan on building one with the specs: AMD 64 3400+, 80gb hd, 2x512mb ram, Chaintech ZNF3-250 Motherboard, JNT100 case.. and the other little things like disk drives ect.

First was in 1981, a Sinclair ZX81. 1kb memory, no colour, all from tape, text based adventures were the order of the day. Bought a 16kb expansion pack (big box that sat out of the back) and a keyboard that you glued to the top of the unit.

Ahh the good ol' speccy... Think you'll find it was 16kb memory though :P I had the 48kb model... how flash of me eh ![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif) even moved on to the Spectrum + (same thing in a different box) before graduating to the Commodore 64 - ahh the joys - a tape drive that didn't need me to stop/start it, more than two colors in a block at once.
After a couple of Amiga's my first PC was a Cyrix 150mhz, 64mb ram, 15" monitor, 2GB HD. Cost about £1,500 - total rip off - but it got me started in 'real computing' and the wonderful world of the Internet, albeit horribly slow with my 28.8k modem.

pentium 90MHZ with a 1GB hard drive with an incredible 56K modem that would wake everyone up in the house when you try to connect while they're sleeping
good times ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

It was over £1,000 and came with a desk, printer and loads of software!

Sounds exactly like the one i first got, but we got it from Time. We had hundreds of problems with graphics tho and sound, were going to charge hundreds for us to send it back!! We only just got it.
It was really slow, we got it upgraded and it's rubish compared until today's PCs
Thankfully i'm no longer using it
