problems with my hosting company
I have a $10 hosting account per month. I was a month and one day late on payment because of a paypal error. The jerk who owns it wants to charge me $75, to resume hosting with him. I know I am like his only customer lol. I don't want to pay this, it doesnt make sense. I am missing 8 days worth of email on the server or so due to this right now... if I transfer my hosting will I get that back?

That's ridiculous. You won't get your mail back, but definately switch hosting companies. Also look over the terms you agreed to when you signed up for an account ... something as insane as a $75 fee like that seems way over the top, it's probably not even in his agreement, just wants to screw you over.

No, its in their. $25 dollar late fee + $50 reconnect. I think I may pay it, get my mail and files - I need the files. I dont have backups. Then file a chargeback through paypal.

Maybe you could try contacting the webhost and ask if you could get your files and stuff.

Yes, i do believe that he can't hold your email and files hostage and order up a ransom for you to get them back.
Contact him with a stern, but not "hating" email asking for your email and files back.

If you agreed to those terms of service then im guessing by law you will have to pay up.

Yes he can "hold your emails and files hostage" and yes, if you agreed to the contract than you have to pay, and yes if you willfully take services with no intent of paying (i.e. paying, getting your files, and chargeback from paypal) you are commiting fraud and theft.

I am a hoster my self and yes when you sign up if you agreed to the Terms of Service then thats the terms. Also he can hold everything on your account or if he wants delete it after a surrent amout of time. Good luck getting your stuff back and dont the chargeback like PAcific said it will come to hit you back in the booty.
