Wordpress gurus, a question for ya!

Is it possible to include recent wordpress entries into a layout?

What I mean is.. I'm working with a cms currently for a project and am planning to include a daily blog feature on the front page above everything else.. instead of having to code a blog feature into the cms itself.. I'm planning to use wordpress for it.

Now what I'm trying to figure out is how to include recent posts into the cms layout.. any ideas?

So say I have the cms+layout in the root.. and wp in root.com/wp, how exactly do I include the most recent entry to show on my main root layout? Recent entry being.. the title,date,entry, comments and the previous-next links.

You could use the RSS feed generated by Wordpress. You would need some kind of script to read and display the RSS feed. I've use the following PHP RSS feed reader with great success. It can integrate seamlessly into any layout.

Why not query the WP database yourself, in the CMS?
