Yeah, even though I am 15, I get hugely offended when people say that they are "amazing in Photoshop," or think they can code websites because they know HTML/CSS from coding MySpaces. I've had one of my friends (a girl) that said she is better than me at coding using tables, bleh, because she coded her myspace.. I nearly threw stuff at her... heavy stuff. Don't worry, I hate her anyway.

Not worth it. Once you spend enough time in the IT industry, you learn to just smile and laugh in your head. Not worth the energy.

Not worth the energy...lol, Bennett do you ever get off your computer chair?
15 year olds have a lot of energy to throw around, so I see no reason not to

Energy as in, why waste your time arguing. IT people all think they are god, lets face it.

Yea true...but the whole joy of it is arguing with someone who 'thinks' they know it all - but actually don't even know what you can actually do with Photoshop/Illustrator.
Just ask them a load of questions about it - its pure joy watching them suss out some kind of strange answer...

Respect
It would seem Nightmare, that you might be able to gain a little more respect for yourself if you behaved in a respect-worthy way.
I have found that honesty about what you do, and how you do it, to be sufficient when trying to gain respect from clients. Respect them for knowing their business, when they are describing their needs for the website, then explain how you are able to fulfill that with your knowledge and capabilities.
I have generated leads by sharing ideas about how using the internet or having a website might help a company with their marketing. People see the value I can bring, without even coding their site, just by offering suggestions. When they can see that, they usually respect it.

It's quite simple really:
Not everybody has the same outlook or opinion when it comes to certain things.
Learn to live with it, as a freelancer you can pick and choose who you work with

In case you hadn't noticed I was merely joking then.
Sheesh, people nowadays - no laughs at all!
