I can do this for you in asp.net using MSSQL!

Not a problem Jim. If I have a reasonable amount of time this weekend, I will try to contact you and touch base a little. I am consistently working on my portfolio/article site design and I am planning to code and integrate it into a few scripts this weekend, so I am not sure how free I will be.

I am sure Php/Mysql is going to be key. I am also sure that some Java may be used. If you are talking about a preexisting script I would like to know.

I will be speaking with you over the next day on MSN. That works best for me. I can also do PHONE CONVERSATIONS with anyone in the US very easy. Village actually lives right by me. yes village Chicago native here!
VX, just at least as an adviser to make sure that the proper items are being completed as they are told to be. Thanks everyone.

well no, i can create the site in asp.net/mssql using ajax as well. nothing big, but php seems to be the most popular choice for little projects nowadays.

I don't mean to down talk anyone's coding ability or pretend to know what I don't. Although I can say this is not a little project. I am sure its not the largest some have done but for sure this is no small project.

well I guess i used it in the wrong context.
if its gonna be a fairly large project and cpu intensive then i suggest going with asp.net,
but if its a large project, but a simple static, and not much queries to execute, php is better.
this is because php is interpreted, while the .net code is compiled into machine language. and at the end of the day, your still using a program to run, where as machine code runs as is. (thereofre making it faster)
its up to you though. generally it will cost you more to run a asp.net website then a php one.

Not completely true, PHP is a fast and powerful language capable of handling almost any reasonable web task. Almost everything is made with PHP, the forum we are talking on is made in PHP, other massive sites like gamefaqs.com and many others are made with PHP.
It is true that ASP.NET is precompiled, therefore faster. PHP is interpreted then compiled. However that wont make a notable difference on the project like this. Compared to forums and CMS's, this is relatively small.
