maybe is you're talking cents. $100 barely buys time to come up with an idea, let alone execute and refine it. and that's just for a mark. if you want any sort of brand identity, the work load grows exponentially.

Logo design is is far different than other graphic design. Designer has to spend lot of time innovating ideas and concepts. Some time my designer come up with a unique logo in just an hour and some time he spend 5/6 days to complete the job. So pricing the same is bit difficult.
If designer get an clear instruction document on what exactly client is looking for he will give his/her best design. In my opinion the pricing should starts with $100 for initial designs (3 revisions) and may go up depends upon how much time one has to spend on getting the final output.
I advice both designer and client should spend more time on deciding a logo for the company as it leads to establish your brand. (my 2c's)

To be honest i got a decent logo for $40 so I don't think you need to pay well over odds.

There are a lot of logo designers on the internet but at times you can get lucky and find a really good designer on the cheap but However I would estimate a quality logo costing anywhere from $20.00 - 100.00. Just make sure that you provide with as much detail information as possible.

I've charged around £40-60 for logo's, it isn't particularly hard but sometimes the time investment needed is taken granted for.

If a person want to pay me $50 for a logo, they will get a $50 logo. If a person is smart and understand the value of a logo, well try few hundred or even a grand for a logo and they shall get a logo worthy of spending that much money. So at the end of it, it all depends on how knowledgeable a client is about branding.

I would never make a illustrated vector logo and propose it for less than 100. Unless your logo is nothing besides text with a few effects then that's the only reason to make a 10 dollar logo.
