  Old  Rewiew my website please

hi,

I just purchased an online portfolio website. There are not to many options since its a basic template layout. I can pick and choose my colors and add my stuff. I am just looking for opinions on the layout and colors. Keep in mind it's still underconstruction, so alot of the info isnt filled in yet. Please let me know what you think or how I can improve my site.

Thanks,
Bernice

It looks like it was put together in couple hours, the welcome to bas design text on the homepage shouldn't be together with the illustration there as an image not below it as text loooks terrible. The logo is badly placed and the metal effect on the menu nav is really outdated. I don't like, the entire design is missing rythym and balance.

And dude frames are not the way to go.

Anybody can do a design like that. If it is made by a professional web designer it must have at least some effects. It is too simple and the elements are wrong placed. Try to work on this design for a week, and a good start would be looking at other designer's work.
In the menu, when you are over the text the arrow should become coloured too. And usually home is the first link.
Copyright must be at the bottom of the page content, not in the menu.
The arrows from the menu should have a bigger distance between them.
The title is always portfolio ... etc. The title rule is that first goes BAS design studio then Portfolio. And not all the pages are about portfolio, right?

The last thing is that you don't need images of 1px/1px with such big with and height. For example blank.gif is 1px/1px and it has 236 x 387 px. Really donno why? Put the width to the <td>s. It's better. Your code is full of small->big images.

I don't like the black on white page on the right. It is quite boring with not a lot happening. Also the text is all down the left side of the white box (looks like a list) the right hand side is all just unused space. Same thing going on with the nav which is only using a tiny space in the top left corner. Spread it out, use the space, and make it more interesting.

Agree. It seems more like a flash style layout.. only its not, it uses frames.

I love this site!!!

It has all the ingredients for success, it is simple, has clean colours, consistency, simple navigation. Everything works well together to make a really great package!

There is one tiny issue I have found that bugs me though, there are a number of grammar errors throughout. Tidy these up and the site will be a winner!
