Server at your house
How many of you have a server at your house? I have a computer that I don't use that I could easily set up to be a server, but you're not suppose to do it with Comcast.
What do you need to do in order to have your own server, do you need different cable lines installed, ect.
Anyone following me?

Technically, you don't need anything other than your internet connection, and the server itself.
However, some ISP's may not allow you to run web servers off your standard internet connection - for that, you may need to purchase a different connection (particularly if you are using it for hosting other peoples sites, with intentions of earning money from it).
What you need (or what one might recommend you should have) varies really, depending on how the server would be used.
I don't have a server running from my house, however, and have no plans to do so. Even for something simple, I think it'd be much easier to purchase a dedicated server, or get colocation (especially given how much it costs these days - next to nothing).

If it does violate their tos then your internet connection would probably be terminated or you would be given a warning.

Firstly the website would be stupidly slow if you had more than 1 person on it compared to a commercialy hosted webpage, Unless you have a stupid connected speed in your house. Secondly they will proberly notice pretty soon.

Yea compare the speed of your Cable modem to the speed a datacenter hosts servers at. The differance is huge.
