Looks pretty good. I heard somewhere that Microsoft wern't going to put Their own internet browser (internet explorer) on their next OS as other companies were complaining as their browsers wern't being given a chance, guess not then...
First thing I'll be doing is downloading a new style

I seriously hope they will take it out, remember this is Beta One though. They might not have gotten around to removing it yet.
One thing sticks out in my mind though: How will I download Firefox without IE?

Simple, just go to your computer or anywhere and right click up the top so that the address bar is there and type in a web address, any window in windows can be used as a browser.

Just the opposite. IE7 will be the default browser. What will change is that the licensing agreements are being opened up with the various OEMs so that they can pre-install 3rd party apps if they so choose to. The problem that is going on even today is that not many OEMs are choosing to do so.

well if you read up on what Vista means, you would know. it means: "A distant view or prospect, especially one seen through an opening, as between rows of buildings or trees."
this means that MS is trying to pose a message that things are changing; you are walking through a a door, a passage and viewing a beautiful project that will change the world. i think they really did good with the name.

That's why they picked Vista as the name, Longhorn was only the codename while they developed it.
And if those screenshots are the default Vista interface, I'm sticking to XP. It's so damn ugly, I'm really not into dark desktop themes and all that transparency on the program interfaces is horrible. As Robson mentionned, the dropshadow on the text is way overdone. Hopefully there will be other themes to chose than that cause that's awful.

Actually those windows themselves are IE. It's Windows' default finder app.
