I don't have any kids either. It is based on how much you made last year. The more you make, the larger the amount ($300 or $600 for no dependents I believe).

My boyfriend is getting $300 too. He was only $32 shy of making the $600 amount...he was a little peeved lol.

Ahh, there are so many little rules on what you could get. I didn't know you could get $600 if you made more money. I barely came under $3000 for the year and still got the $300 The major reason why I filed this year was cause of the stimulus, haha.

I know if you are married its an extra $300, plus $300 per each child under 17 years of age. You can get up to $1200.

Lucky? In a way yes, however not entirely. Our country is hitting a recession big time. Banks are going bankrupt, tons of ppl are losing their houses b/c they can no longer pay the mortgages and their banks can no longer support themselves.

Pretty much our economy is in the bucket right now and they want us to take this money (about $150 billion total) and put it right back into the economy by buying crap to try to give it a boost...however most ppl are probably just going to pay bills with it b/c of all the job losses going on nationwide and the consistent depreciation of the US dollar is becoming more and more apparent.

If you filed taxes by April 15th, then you get a piece of this, even if you didn't make enough to pay taxes last year...i think if you are single and make $75,000 or a couple and make over $150,000 you don't get this b/c they don't want to give more to ppl who obviously aren't hurting for it.

This is basically like putting a bandaid on a huge cut that requires stitches, however for the immediate time being, it may slow the bleeding.
