It seems that there is a gap between PR4-5 and PR6-7. I would say that only .01% of websites make it above the 5 cutoff. It seems like your content has to be massive and changing as well as continual link building.

I had one site jump to a PR5 with little promotion. I am not sure what I did right, but since it has backed down to PR4. Its not just the number of links, but the quality as well. I know Google has quality checks and also tracks the momentum of links. I have heard that going from 0 to 500 backlinks and then no more from then can be a bad thing. This could just be hearsay however.

Yes PR = Pagerank. The higher the number, alternatively means the higher the "pagerank."

I don't really care much for PR. I just like making something unique and different. PR is something thats on the last of the list when it comes to designing a site. Obviously you have to expose your site through text links etc, but its something I don't really check much.

I just checked my PR for all my websites and they sit @:

Creativestl.com - PR 1
Eatfruitplease.com(offline) - PR 0
Logolize.com(in the process) - PR 0

My blog got PR6 with only around 5 articles and as far as I can tell, only 3 backlinks. Might've been a fluke but being linked from very few high-PR sites might help your PR more than 100x low-PR links. But, I'm no SEO expert at all! To be honest though, I'd rather have a PR3 site with great content and tonnes of traffic buzzing around it than a PR6 which is pretty much dead on it's feet.

I had a PR6 with very little work in a matter of months. I'm not sure what I did correct, and it was a static site so it was rarely updated and only got about 200-300 uniques a day.

My highest PR is 5, after a bit of SEO work. PR7 will be hard to archieve though, so good luck if you attempt it
