Of course you can learn design man!!

But, keep this in mind, design is culture.
Whatever you learn, doesn't matter if it's design related or not.. Psicology, Philosopy, poetry, if you find a way to relate ALL your knowledge into your design you can create masterpieces.

You will not hear this from me, but from the greatest designs ever.
Designs is made to impact into someone's life, visually of course. No matter what, always stribe for perfection and impact on the viewer, there's nothing better than intelligent design. And with "intelligent" I mean the overall result of a proper investigation, study and different solutions you might find to a problem you're facing.

Mauro quite said that right: Design is culture. And I agree. We are all aware of the subjectivity of art. It's not an absolute thing, it changes through time. And sometimes, no matter how great we deem our designs, if the culture will not accept it, it's not going to sell -- not until people will come to appreciate it.
