Hey,
Im looking to start a few sites using web 2.0 design guidence, im wondering if anyone knows some of the frequent fonts used and some basic rules of web 2.0?

When I make designs like that, I use Trebuchet MS for a lot of the design. This link may help you:

Trebuchet MS, Arail, even good use of Times New Roman can work. Mainly sans-serif fonts.

Northpark, sans-serif is one work hence the hyphen.

You mean common sense in designing? I thought that was the case in any design. IE: Arial vs wingding.
