  Old  CSS Opacity

Would it be a bad idea to incorporate CSS opacity into a design, the design isn't dependant on the opacity, and it wouldnt mess up in an older / less compatable browser. But I was wondering if it was still a good idea if I wanted my site to validate XHTML and CSS.

Thanks,

~ Joe

Instead of going for CSS opacity, you could go for PNG opacity. This will not cause any validation errors anyway and should degrade gracefully in older browsers (might need some workaround for IE).

You can make CSS opacity work in most modern browsers. It would work well.
I love PNG's and I can't wait till they are fully supported in IE so I can use them...but the thing is, it doesn't really degrade gracefully in IE :/
