Old  *need help* How to skin a phpBB forum?

Well, im kinda confused as to how to skin a phpBB forum. Or, if anyone knows where I can get a free legal version of IPB that would be great. But, at the moment all I have is phpBB, so does anyone know how to skin it? If so, please share your knowledge

Thanks!

i cant help you with the skinning, you can rarly find anyone who will give you a free IPB forum licence, if you go to there company forums, you might be able to get one for half a year at a discounted price from someone, but make sure it isnt a scam

Skinning phpBB is all about editing the .tpl (not sure of extension) files and adding all the HTML you want in the there including their assigned variables. I've never been much into phpBB so I don't know the exact details, but i assume it is similar to vBulletin but without the style being in a database table.

Its just using a basic template system. Create your template in html, then read their skinning guide on their website and add the variables. Then transfer them to each template file.(tpl)

The actual design of the skins are done in photoshop or another graphics package. You would then slice up the image and code it up as a skin
