How are IPs Allocated and Re-Assigned?
I recently got a new VPS In New York, USA.
I did a trace route, and it looks like the IP does resolve to a New York server, but every IP location database I check says Texas.
I realize IP geolocation databases aren't entirely accurate, but I find it too much of a coincidence that it's being identified as the same location where the company is based out of and not the server location.
Is it possible the IP was previously assigned to a server in their Texas datacenter and just hasn't been updated yet in the IP geo databases, or are there other possible explanations?
